Reading Efficiency by Wall Street Playboys will instantly humble you.
If you’re health, wealth and social life aren’t dialed in, these guys will let you know. Your feelings be damned.
To 95% of the population these guys are going to seem like douchebags. And that is their intention. They don’t want regular people reading their website.
This book, and their website, is not for everyone. It is for the most ambitious and intelligent people out there. In fact, if you can read the first few chapters of the book and not put it down because it hurt your *feelings* you’re probably going to get pretty far in life.
I can’t remember how I stumbled upon Wall Street Playboys (WSP), but their website has become one of the preeminent websites in this corner of the internet in recent years. While I appreciate the finance and business articles most of all, these guys just *get it* when it comes to lots of different topics.
Every aspect of their lives, based on their advice and writings, is designed to optimize for time and efficiency, hence the title of the book. In Efficiency, these guys will break down the most efficient ways to get rich, ripped and more without giving up your life.
A Clear and Concise Schedule
I get a hard-on for schedules and habits. My whole life is planned to a T (Check out How to Get Organized to use the same techniques I do).
Efficiency lays out a really solid day-to-day schedule. I have no critiques, though everybody is different and may change their schedules slightly to fit their own personal needs and interests.
What I got out of this section is that I need to work more–not surprising. They actually provide time for hobbies, but realistically you should be working more than playing.
Fuck Passion–Get Money
While I am getting the hang of making money online, I still have a long way to go. One of my downfalls is online ADD where I keep looking for a new avenue to make money.
In my latest scheme I wanted to write short-fiction and sell copies between $0.99-$2.99 on Amazon. I figured it would yield a few hundred dollars per month in “passive” income. Fortunately, WSP snapped me back to reality.
Publishing these works of fiction would be a terrible investment of time.
$2 for a fucking book?!? That’s no way to get rich!
I’ve instead decided to focus on bigger projects.
Moreover, WSP eased some concerns I had about writing certain content. They make a good point about morality when it comes to online business, that is, if you won’t do it someone else will! As long as you’re not scamming people and doing anything illegal, then you’re likely going to be adding value in some way, so why not profit from it?
What to Expect From this Book
This book is geared towards a very specific market, and the content is designed for an even more specific crowd. For example, if you don’t have a high-paying career on Wall Street or Silicon Valley, a lot of these sections won’t seem particularly relevant. However, the idea here is that if you’re young you’d work towards these careers, and if you’re a bit older you’re looking to break into these industries. If none of the above, then it’s time to start your own business yesterday and get scaling!
Like I mentioned earlier, if you’re going to get your feelings hurt by guys telling you that you’re slacking in every aspect of your life, don’t read Efficiency.
Efficiency is, well, efficient. There is no fluff. Each page is packed with content and it is a lot to take in. Because I write reviews I tend to read to fast and miss out on good information so I will likely go back soon and read over it again.
I recommend you read this book slowly. After each chapter reflect, write down some notes, and see what you can implement. Whether it’s fitness, nutrition, hobbies, chores, online business, career or dating advice its in here.
