After writing multiple best-sellers with his 4-Hour series, Tim Ferriss has written yet another smash hit to compliment his amazing podcast. The result: Tools of Titans.
Not Just Another Self-Improvement Book
At first I was skeptical of what Tools of Titans would have to offer. I wanted to limit my exposure to new books this year, instead focusing on great books I’ve already read, especially avoiding excessive self-improvement material. Yet, after all the amazing reviews I could not help, but get a copy of Tools of Titans!
And I’m glad I did!
This book is absolutely filled to the brim with amazing advice. It was done by extracting the best information from his podcast, the Tim Ferris Show. It does not read like a traditional book, but is instead a compendium of profiles on individuals from the podcast, featuring their best advice. Even for those who have listened to nearly every episode (like me) there is still a ton to learn.
In fact, sometime next month I am going to go through the book again, copying all my notes and highlights into Evernote It will take even more time to digest everything from workout advice to meditation to marketing and psychedelics is in here. No stone is left untouched!
This is one reason I can’t do a traditional review of the book. There’s too much content to really narrow in on several topics within one review. If something interesting comes up during my review of the book I may write up an article for it.
An Encyclopaedia to Life
Not only is this book a must read, but it is a book that’s really going to require note-taking. It’s more like a textbook of greatness. And since it is not a book that requires you to read it cover to cover, you can skip chapters that don’t pique your interest. A lot of people Tim profiles include celebrities, musicians, journalists etc. who don’t have much to offer me. Seeing as this is a 600+ page book, there’s no time for wasting it on people who won’t improve my life.
As for the actual book, I personally opted for the hardcover. That’s what I recommend. It’s one of those books that has a ton of important tidbits of information you’ll want to refer back to often on your bookshelf.
